CREMELLO

A cremello horse is a chestnut/sorrel/red horse with two cream genes.  They appear cream to white colored, with blue eyes and pink skin.  A cremello is easily confused with a perlino (a bay with 2 cream genes) or a smokey cream (a black with 2 cream genes), so genetic testing for the red gene is indicated.  A cremello horse will have 2 red genes (ee) and 2 cream genes.  Breeding a cremello to a chestnut will produce palomino 100% of the time.

A cremello can also be confused with a gold cream champagne (formerly referred to as an ivory champagne).  Testing for the cream gene (the cremello will have 2 cream genes) will determine which is correct.
